About Us

Culture connects. A city moves.

We Are Berlin e.V. is a registered association founded in 2026 and based in Berlin. The association creates structures for art, culture, social exchange, and civic engagement. Its focus is on projects that bring together people, initiatives, and organizations across scenes, disciplines, generations, and cultural backgrounds.

Our work combines cultural practice with social responsibility. We develop our own projects, collaborate with other associations and civil society organizations, and create spaces for encounters, discussions, artistic production, and collective action.

The statutes define three central fields of action: Art and Culture. International Cooperation, Tolerance, and Understanding among Nations. Democratic Polity and Civic Engagement.

This results in events, demonstrations, art and cultural projects, publications, as well as communication, discussion, and educational formats. Networking community initiatives and collaborating with organizations with complementary objectives are also among the association's tasks. We Are Berlin e.V. is politically and religiously neutral.

Berlin as a Shared Space

For us, Berlin is not just a location, but a workspace. The city thrives on people who produce culture, open spaces, start initiatives, share knowledge, and take responsibility. This is precisely where We Are Berlin e.V. comes in: not as a representative of a single scene, but as a platform for collaboration.

Grassroots democratic, alternative, migrant, intersectional, and socio-political perspectives are explicitly part of the association's cultural mandate as formulated in its statutes.

At the same time, we understand Berlin as part of Europe and an international cultural landscape. Cultural exchange, culture of remembrance, transnational cooperation, and the European idea are therefore as much a part of our work as local projects in the city.

Collaboration

We Are Berlin e.V. collaborates with cultural professionals, artists, associations, initiatives, educational institutions, public institutions, and other societal actors.

Not every organization has to do the same thing. The crucial question is whether a joint project can emerge from different competencies.

Currently: December 31, 2026

A current focus is the further development of the public New Year's Eve celebration in Berlin around the Großer Stern and the Siegessäule. For December 31, 2026, the assembly "WE ARE BERLIN, World Peace Day Berlin" has been registered with the Berlin Assembly Authority at Großer Stern.

The project combines culture, music, and social participation and continues an approach that was already visible during the 2025/26 New Year's Eve. The We Are Berlin initiative at that time was also described by the Berlin Administrative Court as an alliance of cultural professionals in connection with a registered assembly on Straße des 17. Juni.

We Are Berlin e.V. is developing a long-term structure from this. Not for one night. For the city.
